Dipso was formed by a group of friends moved by the desire, the thirst, to read and discuss the great books that are the foundation of our classical Christian tradition. Our friendship is born out of our experience and life in the Catholic lay movement of Communion and Liberation and its emphasis on generating mature men and women in the faith.

The word dipso (from the Greek διψάω) means “I thirst” and is one of Jesus’ last statements before his death on the cross (John 19:28). We chose this name for our group because it captures our thirst for knowledge, truth, and beauty which is, ultimately, thirst for the greatest Beauty, Christ himself.
